What is regenerative medicine?

La medicina regenerativa o regenerative cell therapy is based on the healing power of our own cells. We treat the symptoms, but go beyond that by using your body’s own regenerative abilities to restore AND revitalize the health of your feet.

Regenerative medicine in general can be cellular regenerative (stem cells) or non-cellular regenerative (PRP and hyaluronic acid).

These types of cell regeneration treatments can be performed using the patient’s own cells such as blood or fat, taking into account that both contain stem cells, blood cells such as platelets and other cells that help to promote tissue restoration or regeneration.

What in Cellular regenerative medicine?

It is based on the reintroduction of certain cells into tissues in an attempt to treat damage that has occurred. Regeneration, repair, protection, suppression of inflammation or immunomodulation actions are sought.

With the use of living cells or regenerative cell therapies, two types of products can be distinguished: those based on the grafting or implantation of the patient’s own mature cells; and those using stem or progenitor cells.

The infiltration of pure stem cells requires that they are previously cultured (expanded) in a laboratory process. Because of this, these types of treatments use tissue engineering and are considered advanced cell therapy and are usually available only in clinical trials.

There is another treatment with mature cells, in which the patient’s own autologous mesenchymal cells are used to perform the treatment, without the need for culture. Bone marrow concentrate and adipose tissue vascular fraction are two examples of these techniques that do not require tissue engineering and are accessible “at the patient’s feet” without a laboratory manipulation process.

What is NON-cellular regenerative medicine?

The best known and most widely applied are regenerative therapy with ultrasound-guided infiltration of platelet-rich plasma or PRP and ultrasound-guided infiltration of hyaluronic acid.

Frequently asked questions about regenerative medicine

What are the benefits of ultrasound-guided infiltrations of regenerative therapies in the feet?

First of all, we would like to emphasise that cellular regenerative therapies are carried out under ultrasound guidance by a qualified health professional to ensure and be certain that they reach the damaged area. In addition to this, this type of therapy will transform your experience and your view of the traditional podiatry you have known so far.

The main benefits are:

Fast recovery: regenerative treatments speed up the healing process to allow you to recover and get back to your routine as quickly as possible.

-Lasting results: They not only treat superficial symptoms, but address the root cause of the problem, offering more lasting, long-term and effective results.

-Non-invasive surgery: This avoids invasive surgical procedures, opting for less intrusive approaches that minimise recovery time and discomfort.

In what injuries or pathologies is this therapy recommended?

Do not wait any longer to treat your pathology or your injury with an advanced and non-invasive therapy and fast recovery and do not worry anymore about side effects as this type of therapy brings short and long term benefits for the health of your feet.

The injuries or pathologies that are treated with this type of therapies are:

  • Muscle injuries
  • Ligament and tendon injuries (sprains, tendinitis, tendinosis, tenosynovisis, ruptures, calcifications, Achilles tendinitis, etc.).
  • Achilles bursitis and calcaneal bursitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • spurs
  • Muscle ruptures
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome
